The hard times continue for the Hub City Pita Pit Brewers in the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League.

The Saint John Alpines rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Brewers 5-3 last night at Kiwanis Park.

The loss was the sixth in a row for the Brewers and it left them all alone in the basement with a 7-14 record.

The Alpines took over fifth place their fourth straight win. They have a 9-14 record.

The Alpines and Brewers clash again tonight in Saint John. The Brewers and Mets square off Saturday at 7 p.m. at Kiwanis Park.

The Alpines scored three runs on three hits and two errors by the Brewers in the sixth inning.

They added two more in the seventh, including one on a steal of home by George Halim, to complete the comeback.

Shayne Betts, a .211 hitter entering the game, doubled for the Alpines. Dan Taylor and Kevin Desaulniers each chipped in with a pair of singles.

Mark Deveaux replied with two singles and two walks for the Brewers, who have won three of their five meetings with the Alpines this season.

Tim Webber and Shane Sexton each added run-scoring singles.

Taylor recorded the complete-game pitching win.

Luc Daigle pitched six strong innings for the Brewers, but the veteran right-hander did not figure in the decision.

Martin Poirier, who gave up two runs on three hits in one-third of an inning, was tagged with the loss.

Taylor improved his record to 4-3 and Poirier slipped to 1-2.
